OLD Outreach and Marketing Committee Member
An excellent role for: a seasoned veteran in the Marketing or any applicable Outreach field of expertise, a young professional or college student wanting to sharpen their skills in the Marketing or any applicable Outreach field field of expertise, or a motivated high school student wanting to gain some practical experience in the Marketing or any applicable Outreach field of expertise. Anyone with a passion for serving their community, who shares our belief that math is for everyone, and who wants to help YDM empower young people and make engaging math learning opportunities accessible to all students.
Time Commitment: 2 hours per week on average
Role Expectations/Duties:
- Make best efforts to attend regular committee meetings (usually once per 2 weeks). Be communicative about your schedule availability & preferences. Make best efforts to attend team meetings whenever possible, and communicate proactively when unable to attend.
- Contribute to the development of the marketing plan: Members should contribute to the development of a comprehensive marketing plan that outlines the organization’s goals, target audience, messaging, and channels of communication.
- Assist with social media management: Members may assist in creating and posting content on the non-profit’s social media accounts, responding to comments and messages, and analyzing engagement metrics.
- Participate in event planning and execution: Members may assist in planning and executing events and outreach activities to promote the non-profit, such as fundraising events, community outreach events, and volunteer drives.
- Help with data collection and analysis: Members may assist in researching and analyzing data related to the non-profit’s target audience and marketing channels. This information can be used to inform future marketing strategies.
- Provide feedback on marketing materials: Members may be asked to provide feedback on marketing materials such as flyers, brochures, and website content.
- Volunteer for outreach activities: Members may volunteer to participate in outreach activities, such as speaking engagements or networking events, to promote the non-profit and its mission.
- Learn the committee’s purpose and its goals. Contribute personally by taking on tasks and delivering results that move the team towards its objectives.
- Build relationships with teammates and have fun as you collaborate on the committee’s work. Use the role as an opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in the Marketing or any applicable Outreach field.
- Participate actively in a virtual & asynchronous team. Make more than half of the progress happen in between the occasional committee meetings, by collaborating transparently and by making use of Microsoft Teams and related software. Take initiative on tasks that need to get done to achieve the team’s goals. Show your ideas & creations with teammates, and ask for feedback. Share your own feedback & perspectives on the ideas & creations of your teammates. Disagree sometimes and agree sometimes, while striving all the time to share your perspective honestly, respectfully, and constructively.
